Deep-Like

A Deep-like is liking a very old photo or post far down someone’s profile, signaling that you have been scrolling through their history.

A deep like happens when you tap the heart on a post buried far down someone’s feed. Because it is old, it quietly reveals that you have been scrolling back through their profile.

It can be intentional. Some people deep like on purpose to signal interest, a low risk way of saying I noticed you without sending a message.

It can also be an accident, the dreaded slip of the thumb that announces your late night scroll through a crush or an ex.

Either way, a deep like sends a message. On purpose, it is a flirty nudge. By mistake, it can be a little embarrassing, since it shows how far back you went.

It sits in the same family as insta-stalking and the DM slide, small digital moves that signal attention before any real conversation starts.
