Pie Hunting

Pie hunting is deliberately pursuing people who are heartbroken or freshly out of a breakup because they seem easier to win over.

Pie hunting describes targeting someone who is emotionally raw after a breakup, on the theory that vulnerability makes them quicker to fall for attention. The “pie” is the wounded person treated as low-hanging fruit.

It might look like swooping in right after a friend’s relationship ends, offering comfort that quickly turns romantic or sexual. The interest is opportunistic rather than genuine, aimed at the moment of weakness rather than the person.

The pattern overlaps with love bombing, since both rely on showering attention on someone whose judgment is clouded. The difference is the deliberate hunt for people in a fragile, post-breakup state.

If someone seems eager to fast-track things while you are still reeling, slow down and notice the timing. Real connection can wait until you are steady enough to choose it clearly, and anyone worth keeping will respect that pause.
